The Canadian Music Educators’ Association/L’Association canadienne des musiciens éducateurs is pleased to announce the winner(s) of the 2024 National Undergraduate and Graduate Student Essay Competitions.
The winner(s) of the 2024 competitions are:
DR. FRANKLIN CHURCHLEY GRADUATE ESSAY COMPETITION:
FIRST PLACE: Melissa J. Hambleton – Western University
Essay Title: A Critical Race Theory Perspective on Elementary Music Education in Ontario
Faculty Advisor: Danielle Sirek, PhD
KENNETH BRAY UNDERGRADUATE ESSAY COMPETITION:
No award is presented for the 2024 Undergraduate Essay Competition.
Each submission was blind reviewed by two jurors. Jurors are experienced music education scholars with strong credentials. They devoted substantial time reading and scoring the submissions, as well as providing constructive feedback to participants.
